Unterammergau

Unterammergau, part of the Ammergau Alps cultural district, was well known for its grindstones which were produced there. In the guide visitors find out how such grindstones were made. The Lüftlmalerei – a form of mural art – on the facades of houses is just as impressive. Each mural has a story to tell. Not far from Unterammergau lies another building rich in history – the Kappelkirche, probably one of the oldest churches in the Ammer valley.
