In the end of the world
The Messner Mountain Museum in Sulden am Ortler lies on 1900m above sea level and is dedicated to the topic of ice. On the Anich-map of 1774, the “Ferner am Ortler” – under which the museum is located – is called “In the end of the world”. In the MMM Ortles Reinhold Messner tells about the horrors of ice and darkness, of snowpeople and snowlions, about white outs and the third pole. The worlds largest collection of Ortler paintings and ice tools from two centuries can be admired.
